The Coaching Chronicles

A Team Effort

Change, at times, can be a little unnerving. It can cause fear and strife, adventure and realization, action and reaction. Adrienne has spent the past few months on a rollercoaster - moving to a new state, finding a new job, and building a whole new clientele. But no matter how prepared you are or how educated you are, it can still take on a different direction than you think.

I'm very happy to report that Adrienne had the two best weeks financially in her entire career as a nail specialist! She has consistently met or beat her goals. She has worked her little arms off with her pedi promos. Who would've thought she'd need an assistant so soon?

Hair, Body & Sole has undergone several changes since Adrienne came on board. Through a suggestion by her, Inspiring Champions was brought on as a coaching and consulting group for the entire salon and last week they hosted an "In Salon Training" for the staff. It rocked! The staff was so excited.

So now what? What could be so scary? Well, as any business going through changes, the most popular first reaction is to question, complain, and close off any possible conversation. This causes a "staff infection." You know, those breakroom conversations that cause the rumor mill to fly and anyone in a position to make these changes is a bad guy. We've all been sucked into that vortex at one time or another.

I encourage each of you to be proactive and not reactive to change. Find out all the facts first, then form an opinion. In many cases, such as this, in order to actually have a successful business things need to be altered for everyone to move forward. Salons are moving into the direction of offering positions as "careers," not just jobs. Educational benefits, paid time off, 401ks, medical benefits, and the like. They are quickly learning that in order to have the entire team move together that everyone needs to be on the same page.

Hair, Body & Sole is investing itself wholly to the steps necessary to offer a place for a long term career. Good communication, great energy, fantastic education, solid working relationships can only guarantee these results. My hats off to the staff for beginning this journey!
