Mother’s Day

by NAILS Magazine | May 13, 2008 | Bookmark +

With the passing of mother’s day this past Sunday, I couldn’t help but think about how many mothers there are in the nail industry that are working hard to provide their kids with everything they can. Because the industry is predominately female, I have talked to many mothers from all areas of the nail industry who mention off-hand that they have a young kid or two back home.

There are mothers who are technicians, educators, salon owners, and even manufacturers, that are supporting entire families with their work.

Many single mothers become nail technicians because it allows them to have a flexible schedule. Tiffany Greco, a nail tech at Hair Addix in Carlsbad, Calif., says, “As a single parent, being a technician has allowed me to rearrange my schedule so I can attend my daughter’s school events and spend more time with her. And it has supported us very well financially.” There are lots of working moms out there in salons, and their stories are truly inspiring.

Here’s a happy belated mothers day to all mothers in the industry, and please feel free to share any inspiring mother stories of your own in Feedback.
