3-D Flowers

by NAILS Magazine | March 5, 2010 | Bookmark +

At IBS Las Vegas, there is a design sculpture competition with a flower theme. The criterion for this competition has changed a little this year. We are allowed to go a little bit thicker because it’s really hard to get a nice encased design when the thickness requirement is so slim. Also, we aren’t allowed to use any types of paints this year either. That’s cool. I used paints last year and got third place, and I thought the design was awesome. I’ll probably get some comments here ;) and that's cool too.

Anyway, the point is I’ve been practicing my 3-D flowers, and this is not something I do— 3-D flowers I mean. Because it’s not that I cant, it’s just I don’t have much need for it. My clients don’t really ask for it and I’m not the kind of person to go crazy and put acrylic flowers on everything from earrings to cell phones. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) But I’ve been practicing a lot, so all you “artists” out there better look out, my 3-D flowers are coming around.

Here’s a quick shot of those third place nails I mentioned.
