Expanding My Horizons

Before I started competing on the “circuit,” I never put much emphasis on the nail art competitions. But when I made the decision to compete for the Cup, I had to change my views. In the beginning of my nail art journey, there really wasn’t anything to study as far as winning nail art was concerned. I couldn’t find much online or in magazines. (And I have nail magazines dating back to 1990!) But now there is a plethora of images to study and learn from.

I would say it took me a good year to really get a grasp as to what the judges want in the art entries. (Of course now they want even more. But that’s not the point.) I had to put in some more time, probably another year, to develop my skills in this area, but I’m so glad I did. Now I feel competent in the art categories. This image is a 3-D nail art piece I did a couple years ago. The theme was “transportation” and I was thrilled to get 2nd place!
