Steven A. Napolitano, deputy, LA County supervisor, presented a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the County of Los Angeles to Dr. Murad (left) at a recent charity art auction, acknowledging Dr. Murad’s philanthropic contributions at The Art of Giving as well as his ongoing pro-bono medical work at local hospitals and children’s organizations.

Many of you know of Dr. Howard Murad and his eponymous skin care line; maybe you even use or retail Murad products in your salon. Well, one thing you might not know about Dr. Murad is that he’s quite the artist too. Indeed, at The Art of Giving: An Inclusive Charitable Event, his original artwork raised more than $25,000 for local and national charities. Held in Redondo Beach, Calif., The Art of Giving was Dr. Murad’s first charity art event, at which community leaders, art aficionados, and the local community purchased 30 works of art created and donated by Dr. Murad himself, with proceeds benefiting the charity of the buyer’s choice.

In addition to live and silent auction bidding, Dr. Murad donated a piece of his artwork to be raffled with proceeds going to the OneHope Foundation, a charity whose mission is to create hope and change for a better future by supporting the planet, the troops, the fight against autism, the fight against AIDS, and the fight against breast cancer.
