What's Your Favorite Nail Myth?

by Holly Schippers | May 13, 2011 | Bookmark +

We have all heard them, the informative tips that people have for stronger nails, longer nails, and how to let your nails breathe. I nearly hurt myself laughing this morning reading a post on Nail Tips, an Australian-based nail tech forum, where one tech had sarcastically posted she had to go fix a nail as it had broken and must have a collapsed lung. Some of the things we hear are funny, some of them sound like they could be true, then you have those put out by misinformed companies or nail professionals. While some information is a matter of opinion, there are things that are scientifically incorrect — case in point the breathing nails. If we as professionals arm ourselves with the truth and share that truth with clients, the more accurate the prevailing information becomes. I would like to give you the opportunity to post your favorite myth, ask if something you heard is true, or leave a question about anything scientific and I will hunt down the answers for you. Don’t assume everything you know is accurate and if you’re shy use an alias! I look forward to seeing what you come up with and the challenge of providing you with answers, verification, and solutions.
