A Custom-Made Spongeable for L.A.’s Natural History Museum

There’s been a lot of buzz here in Los Angeles recently about the new Dinosaur Hall at the Natural History Museum. I was happy to hear that a bath and beauty company got it on the fun. Spongeables, a company that makes shower gel in a sponge (perhaps something for your salon’s retail boutique?), added a touch of whimsy to the debut of the exhibit. Dubbed “Tortoseirous Rex”, the company donated sponges in the shape of a turtle-dinosaur to guests at the July 14 opening party.

Spongeables was invited to create the commemorative gift for the event by L.A. County Museum of Natural History trustee Gregg Martin and his wife, Lisa. According to Elaine Binder Popovsky, president of Spongeables, “We were delighted with Gregg’s request and designed something that would give youngsters at the opening a lighthearted memento. We designed the fantasy Tortoseirous Rex shape with a kid-friendly size and kid-style spelling to put the imposing exhibit into a child’s-eye-view perspective.”
