Sparkle and Shine

I love sparkles. Well, anything shiny really — I’m a little bit absent-minded that way. I can be in the middle of telling a pivotal part of a riveting story, and if someone dangles something shiny or sparkly nearby, you can believe I’ve totally lost my train of thought, and have focused singularly on the sparkles.

So imagine my delight when we start discussing nail art! I went out and bought so many types of glitter that I’m not totally sure I don’t have any duplicates (do “Chocolate” and “Espresso” sound like they should be the same color to you??). In any event, I took some time recently and played around with using fine glitters and chunky glitters (the chunky glitter sort of looks like flakes). I must say, the very first one I did was the pink one you see above, and my excitement in using glitter is probably evident, as it looks like I dumped every bit of sparkle I could find on that one — hahaha! No matter, we’ll call it the “Warm-up Nail”.

After I got that one out of my system, I began to play around with practicing more control in utilizing loose glitter. I finished up my night of practice with the brown and gold nail. I must say, I’m rather excited to share my practice nails with my teacher tonight, and to begin to practice more techniques, brush strokes, etc.

We’ve had a couple of clients come into the school for nail services so far, and I’m hoping that as more and more people realize that we are there, I will get the opportunity to practice some art on an actual person. Once they’ve picked themselves up off of the floor from the pure shock of all the glitter choices, I think they’ll enjoy the chance to display their sparkly side. :)
