Blueprint of a First Year

Tip Toe-ing Toward Our Soft Opening

by NAILS Magazine | February 15, 2012 | Bookmark +

Only 15 more days until our "Tip-Toe Soft Opening" weekend! We are scheduled to softly open on March 1 due to a couple more setbacks, but otherwise things are coming along well. As of now, I only have two major areas for concern. The first is that our pedicure bowls have not arrived yet, which directly affects the second area for concern. Our custom pedicure area and back room plumbing still aren’t connected. Am I worried yet? No, but if these two things are not in place by the end of this week, I may have a mini-meltdown.

On the plus side, check out our uber-cute storefront display. I just love to drive past the store and smile at the sign. Oh-my-Posh’aah, you are actually here!

Last week, we had the cable, internet, and phone connected. I’ve also been enjoying the shopping phase of our startup business, except that I have a hard time parting with money. I cringe at the checkout lane when it’s time to pay, and then scream with excitement in the shop when another piece of Posh’aah comes to life.

What else? Supplies. I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping for supplies. I am so impressed by Marlo Beauty Supply. I placed and order on Thursday morning and it was delivered on Friday before noon...Wow! Now, I’m waiting for my favorite things to arrive...Nail Polish! I ordered the Spring 2012 collections from OPI and Essie. Both collections have an amazing pink that I can’t wait to gloss my digits with. Oh wait, I mean, offer to our guests {smile}. And because I am a fan of the reality TV show, Nail Files with Katie Cazorla, I ordered its fan favorite collection from The Painted Nail. Almost forgot, I also need to get in touch with my contact at deborah lippmann so we can get some of my favorite deborah lippmann colors on our racks.

As we speak, CND UV lamps and Shellac polishes, base, and top coats are en route to Posh’aah Nail Spa. I had been teetering between the OPI no-chip and Shellac. I chose Shellac partly because there is a nearby nail salon (that I like VERY much) who offers all OPI products with its services, including the no-chip mani. I am a firm believer that there has to be something different about us to help build a competitive advantage. I also love how Shellac is branding itself and creating demand directly from women.

OK, that’s enough gushing from me for now, although, I’ll probably be unable to contain myself when our pedicure area is finally built. Stay tuned.
