Vicki Peters Asks Holly Some Questions (and Another Giveaway!)

I have a few things left for giving away, but thought you might like a blog mixed in with the giveaway. If you recall I interviewed Vicki Peters while working with her at the NAILS offices in California, she decided to turn the tables and interview me back! Here is our Q&A that she thought you would enjoy.

Vicki: You know I have been around for 30 years and I have seen some of the most well-known educators come up in the ranks…so where did you come from and what is your story?

Holly: I’m not sure how to best answer this. I grew up in Texas, and now reside in Iowa. I went to nail school because my cousin mentioned she could not find a good nail tech. I struggled with nail skills when I got into the salon, researched help online and via classes as much as I could. I decided to pay it forward once CND invited me to bootcamp and I had a foundation of knowledge that was worth sharing.

Vicki: How did the FingerNailFixer happen?

Holly: FingerNailFixer as a nickname that came about as a joke when I was being teased about the way I say I’m fixin’ to do things. One day I said I was fixin’ to fix a fingernail and in the midst of laughing someone said you’re the FingerNailFixer, and so I am.

Vicki: Where do you think you have made the biggest impact with what you are doing with the blog?

Holly: I hope that I have made the biggest impact with my fellow nail professionals who are trying to make a living following their passion. My dream is to teach them some small thing, or share an article, etc., and make their lives a little easier or income a little better.

Vicki: Do you have a career bucket list and what’s on it?

Holly: I do have a career bucket list and it evolves as I grow as a professional. The first thing I put on the list as a “crazy goal” or dream I never thought would come true is to do the nails for a cover of NAILS Magazine. I did cover entries for the contest several years in a row and never had the faith in myself to send them in. Other things have been to meet my online heros in person, which has been amazing. My next “crazy goal” on the list is to teach in every country in the world either in person or online.

Vicki: Who inspires you and why?

Holly: Wow, this is a hard question to answer because I think that everyone we meet in life is an inspiration in one way or another. I can’t recall ever meeting someone that I did not learn from whether good or bad, and it is always inspiring to learn.
