Nails 101: A Student Blog

Week 12: Taking My Exams!

This week we are prepping for our written final and our practical. I am getting really nervous but also excited. Wednesday is our written and then Thursday is the practical. The beginning of an exciting career is just a week away. Over the weekend I had one interview with a salon I am very interested in working with. They just seem to be tailor-made for me at this point in time. Two salons are also phoning me but one is a huge distance away and the driving wouldn't be practical and the other really doesn't feel like a good fit. I have 5 or 6 more that I am calling today and tomorrow and I hope in this pile of names, numbers, addresses, and notes that I will find a good salon fit.

Last night my wonderful hubby ordered my acrylic system and my Kupa e-file. I have been slow to order anything because I have been talking to several trusted friends in the industry, trying different brands and reading reviews. I may change brands as I grow as a nail tech, but at this moment I am a Premium Nails girl. I am loving the product, the ease as it goes on and its durability. Their customer service is amazing as well. For the electric file, our school had the off-brand based on Kupa and I really liked it. A suggestion given to me was if you really love something save up and buy the best, then take great care of it.

I am at a bit of a loss on what to tell you. I am excited to be moving on but I am going to look back and definitely miss my time in this class with these people. The supportive atmosphere, the truly interested and caring classmates and the dedicated teacher have all had an impact on me and what I will be taking away with me as I journey onward. In another few days I will be writing my farewell to you nail lovers so for now I leave you with the last set I will be doing in class just for fun. Blended tips with a pink overlay, then gold pigmented powder as French tips and a little stamping on her ring finger. I think this is the favorite set of nails I have done in school.
