Business Building: Education Event

by Holly Schippers | February 4, 2013 | Bookmark +

For this week’s business building blog we get advice from Paula Knight, nail professional, as well as a bonus — information on an educational event she is hosting! With the great line up she has I would even go if I were not already engaged elsewhere that weekend. It is on my Bucket List to attend a marketing presentation with Millie Haynam and Maisie Dunbar is such a warm and encouraging woman you can’t help but learn from her — so I’m envious of those of you that attend! — Holly

The best professional advice anyone ever gave me was, "Do not compete with others." I can't emphasize the importance of that one statement enough. It has served as the basis for whatever I do. Keeping it in mind, I have always tried to set myself apart from others by raising the bar of excellence. The key to success is EDUCATION! If you ever think you have learned everything then you have just stifled your professional and personal growth!

EDUCATIONAL REFRESHMENT: LEARN. PLAY. NETWORK. WITH PKO!

“Nails are my passion. Education is my mission.” Simple heart-felt words motivate celebrity manicurist, international education artist, and nationally award-winning master nail artist, Paula Knight-Osborne’s mission to elevate nail industry standards. Presented by her company, PKO Education Group, Knight-Osborne will host her first Nail Artist Retreat, April 27-28, 2013, at Hotel Phillips Luxury 4 Star Art Deco Hotel, 105 West 12th Street, Kansas City, MO.

Designed exclusively for licensed technicians, this inaugural educational retreat will promote continued professional development among salon personnel as attendees undergo two days of in-depth refresher courses on natural nail care and specialized designer nail art techniques. Besides the intensive but fun and unique classes coupled with hands-on learning, the event will feature instruction and presentations from nationally acclaimed beauty professionals such as Maisie Dunbar, celebrity beauty professional and president of the award-winning Maisie Dunbar Spa Lounge and BluffaJo Cosmetics and Julie Kandalec, master nail artist seen recently on TLC’s “What Not to Wear”. Other activities include a “Nails in the City” Cocktail Hour, and a competition for nail professionals to be judged by industry vets.

The cost of the course is $250. Early bird discount is $200 before February 4, 2013 and includes a collectible Nail Artist Retreat T-shirt. Limited space is available so visit www.pkoed.com to register now.
