My Take on IBX

America’s Beauty Show in Chicago this year was hoppin'! The most requested information readers seemed to have was for Famous Names' new product IBX. I sought out their booth and was fortunate enough to get a demo from Linda!

IBX is a penetrating monomer that is meant to help natural nails. It is a treatment that is intended to be performed for as long as needed. The level of damage the nails have prior to application will determine the number of treatments the nails will need before they are ready to go. I have taken IBX for a test drive on myself as well as in the salon and wanted to make sure I had the application down correctly. Some very exciting news was that the times the IBX needs to remain under heat have gone down, which will save a bit of time on the overall service.

Like any other salon service, IBX requires good home care. When I applied to myself, I found that if I only used the IBX and did household chores without gloves it did not wear as well which is what you would expect of any nail product. A layer of polish over the top seemed to increase its staying power so if you have naughty clients that refuse to use good homecare, they need something over the IBX. It was helpful on toes, I applied it under Empower Nail Art on some toes that were slightly delaminated and it helped hold the Empower like a dream, so I was quite pleased. The other clients I test drove it on were my hardcore trouble girls, the ones who missed the handout when it came to good nails and tend to forget that their wimpy nails are not tools! They did not seem to have any noticeable difference in wear, however to be fair this was only with one treatment. I would be quite curious now that I know more about it to go back to one client and do continuing treatments.

The top five things Famous Names would have you know about IBX are:

  • IBX is a Natural Nail Strengthening System made to Protect nails under ALL Gel Polishes and to Grow natural nails
  • IBX is applied to the surface of the nail but cured to the inside of the nail to create strength within
  • IBX creates a protective shield for the nail
  • IBX can repair severe natural nail damage
  • IBX is an ongoing treatment to keep nails in a healthy state.
