NYFW: CND For Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony is a fitting way to describe CND's first foray into Spring/Summer 2015. For a collection that was as all about color and print, the nails were the perfect compliment. The designs on the mint, pink, and black tips looked like waves of water. Each nail look consists of three layers of Vinylux mixed with a hint of acetone to create the "tranquil" waves in the polish. The colors were inspired by the clothing line's candy-colored fabric swatches. Black was added because "black never goes out of style," according to CND co-founder Jan Arnold. The "pixelated watercolor" design of the nails mimicked the flowy hair of the models. Toes were polished with a taupe Vinylux shade from the Spring line that contained gray irridescent undertones for a new twist on nude nails. It took the CND team 42 hours to create the Opening Ceremony looks (that's relatively quick compared to the 600 hours it usually takes to create nails for The Blonds).

These nails opened a memorable show with style due to the fact that the presentation wasn't your typical runway walk. Opening Ceremony opted to show its collection within a play written by Spike Jonze and Jonah Hill, featuring an all-star cast including Karlie Kloss, Elle Fanning, Rashida Jones, and Katherine Keener to name a few. New York Fashion Week has certainly begun with a bang!
