Nails 101: A Student Blog

Week Seven and Eight: #NailSchoolChronicles

The last month has been busy, to say the least. I readjusted my work and school schedule for the third time and I finally found something that works well for me, my coworkers, and school.

While I’ve lagged on my nail school blog posts, I’ve been doing a very good job at documenting my experience in real time via my nail-focused Instagram page @nailartbysig. In fact, I even started a new hashtag called #nailschoolchronicles. It’s been really exciting to see that even other nail tech students are using the tag to share their journey.

Week seven was a great one. I logged hours outside of school and attended a CND Master Architect class led by Holly Schippers. To read about the technique-focused class, click here.

The educational and product-specific course helped me get a better understanding of the structure of an acrylic enhancement. Having that foundation has helped me make sure I am working on my pink-and-whites correctly.

Week eight was spent learning about manicures and I did a lot of hands-on practice with classmates. One of my favorite things about school is that even the male students get polished.

While I can perfectly polish nails, I need to get more comfortable using a nipper. I can’t seem to stop shaking! All advice is welcome.
