"Boss Nails" Review: Episode 7

The season finale of “Boss Nails” is drawing near. I’ve been keeping up with the show since the beginning and it has been quite a task trying to sort through the drama and craziness to get to my main focus … the nails! But what did I really expect?? It’s a reality show!

It’s Party Time (Again)

In the recent episode, Dana Cody is prepping for the launch party of her Imperial Nails and in doing so she appointed her cousin Paige to be the event planner. Throughout the season I’ve watched Paige get challenged and prove herself time and again. This time she better hope that the nail gods bless her because the pressure is ON!

#BossRule103: To be a boss, empower those around you

If you’re a social media nail fan, you’ve probably been watching the moves of Nuni Torres on Boss Nails. Between his eye-catching beard, perfect acrylic application, and in-your-face attitude this guy has built up quite the social media profile. However, after a few run-ins with tenured Tippie Toes staff, Nuni had been feeling like he doesn’t fit in at the salon.

Nuni says that he gets lots of opportunities to do guest spots at salons. Well when he told Dana about one of these opportunities she LOST IT (just as fellow InstaStar D.Marie said she would!) Dana seemed vehemently against Nuni doing work in another salon even though she knows how popular Nuni is. But wait, isn’t this the same boss who told D. Marie that no one would ride harder for her success? I guess that success just is not allowed to compete with Dana’s. We will find out next week if Nuni continues to work at Tippie Toes.

#BossRule104: Capitalize on every opportunity

Throughout this season, I can say that the nail tech who has left the greatest impression on me is Amber. This week she created a set of nails that were supposed to stand out in a crowd. She laced these nails using a form (versus using a tip), colored acrylic, and detailed 3D flowers. All these techniques came together in what Amber named “The Secret Garden.” The client left feeling confident and ready to take on the world. Way to go Amber!

For the most part, you can tell this season is wrapping up: the twerking has died down, and the “producer-orchestrated” drama is not as present. We’ll see what the finale brings us and I’m crossing my fingers that if nothing else, we get to see a bomb set of nails! (Speaking of bomb sets, make sure to check out this week’s Next Top Nail Artist challenges and winners!)
