Week 15: Busy Weekend

There is nothing better than receiving confirmation that you are taking the right steps toward reaching your goals. So this week, I received a little recognition that may seem small to some but meant a lot to me. I was recognized for graduating to the clinic floor and for having the most organized station. I consider everything I do a part of my brand and I want to look back and be proud of my experience. So yes, even in school I consider myself a brand. I believe this experience is what I am making it and it will have an impact on my professional career going forward.

This week I experienced what has been the busiest Saturday on the clinic floor so far. Appointments were back-to-back, and we had more appointments than students. However, I will say what happened throughout the day was a wonderful display of teamwork. We supported each other, we encouraged each other, and we got every single appointment done. We did not have to turn anyone away. Initially it seemed a bit overwhelming, to be honest. I have experience in high-pressure situations but it was my first with this group. I loved everything about Saturday and I successfully completed eight services and did not neglect one client. Each client received my best and I am proud of what I accomplished. The exhaustion was real by the time it was all over, but I couldn't stay there because I had family obligations later on that day.

I cannot go without mentioning my experience with aromatherapy. It was a great learning experience and I was able to create my own products in class. I created a foot soak, foot scrub, and moisturizer all with lemongrass and jasmine essential oils. If you haven't played around with essential oils, you should. You will not regret it. What I enjoyed most about this experience was learning about the options I can provide to give unique experiences to my clients. I cannot wait to do more with this aspect of the business.

As I wrapped up the week I reflected really hard on my experience. It finally dawned on me that I only have a few more months left and I will be out in the industry. The only thing that remains a constant in this program is the schedule. Every day brings a different experience and I walk away either fulfilled or wanting more. Either way, I seek out the successes and the opportunities so that I know how to become better at it!
