Week 2: Prom, Pot-Luck and Our First Test

Hello future nail techs!

I've just finished week two at my nail school, Euphoria. I’m still in the phase where I can't really believe I'm doing actually doing this. We've gone from learning basic and spa manicures to the different techniques for a French manicure. We didn't learn too many new things this week, which was disappointing at first for many of us because we're so ready to learn more about nails and get past the basics.

I put a twist on my classic French manicure.

Nothing helps form new friendships quite like a nail school prom!

However, it was Euphoria's first-ever student appreciation prom, and most of us in the class have never been to prom, so we've decided to make the best of it. I absolutely love my classmates! It feels like we've known each other for years and just now have been reunited. We all dressed up for prom and it was refreshing to see everyone out of our school uniform. There was music, snacks and tacos, and everyone loves tacos. I think we would all agree that it turned out to be a great time.

On Thursday, after a quick study session with the girls, we took our first quiz. It was nerve-racking waiting for our scores but we all passed, just like I knew we would! After that, we headed over to the cosmetology class where, both nail tech and cosmo freshmen, exchanged services and brought in a bunch of food for our monthly pot-luck and spa day, which was also fun, especially when there's food involved. There’s nothing I love more than nails, makeup and food! Just remember when you're exchanging services with other students that we're all learning. Be patient and help one another through this learning process.

My classmates and I celebrated the second week with a potluck.

So far, this experience has been amazing! Learning to do what you love, gaining friendship and being at school where the administration tries to make things fun... What more could I ask for? Even when life's obstacles try to distract me, I stay positive and keep going because I know this is where I'm meant to be and what I want to do! So for those of you reading this and you're thinking about starting school for nails (or for anything) the time is now! You'll always have circumstances that will get in the way but you deserve to be happy. And for those of you that have taken that step... keep your eyes on the finish line.

Until next time, spread the love while doing what you love and always remember to #lovejoself.
