Hey Friends, this past week I had mixed emotions. It felt like time couldn't go by fast enough, but at the same time it's going by too fast! We've finished week four with so much excitement for the next week to come.

Although feet aren't my favorite aspect of becoming a nail tech, I love making people feel relaxed with a quality massage.

Although feet aren't my favorite aspect of becoming a nail tech, I love making people feel relaxed with a quality massage.

Not everyone is a fan of feet including myself, but it turned out to be all right. Hopefully no one has had to deal with smelly feet but I guess that's what antiseptic spray and foot soak is for, right? We started with the basic pedis and throughout the week added scrubs, mask, and my absolute favorite, paraffin! The massage aspect has turned out to be the most satisfying part for me. There's something about making others feel good that gives my heart this warm feeling.

After adding to our basic mani and pedi skills, our instructor surprised us with giving us a nail art lesson on Thursday, which we were all excited about. She gave us the opportunity to work on things that has inspired us. I'm not going to lie, I kind of hit a mental road block in regards to what nail art to paint. I was so excited to start and as soon as I had my material in front of me, I went blank. There are so many nail designs that I've wanted to practice — so many lines and flowers  — but once I had the chance to acutally apply the design to a nail, it was as if I couldn't do it. I was very frustrated but I had to remind myself that I'm a beginner. I know we all have high expectations for ourselves, but we also have to remember it takes time and practice. I couldn't give up.

During the holidays, I know there are plenty of woman and young girls who want holiday nail art, so I started there. Finally, I came up with the design of a turkey (I named him Steve), winter trees for Christmas, and a random side profile of a butterfly.

Things will never be perfect at first, inside and outside of school. The point is to keep moving forward no matter what. I will constantly remind you guys that there are going to be things that are challenging and make you want to give up, but you can't.

We are all at nail school for a reason and we have to make it to graduation date. You don't want to have to ever wonder, "What if?" Stay strong, stay positive and spread the love. Life is hard enough so let's have fun while we're helping people.

Love,
