An interesting challenge we all face is when clients bring in photos from Pinterest and ask us to replicate them. They expect that the design will fit into their appointment time in addition to not adding much cost to the service. One way to address that challenge is to pad the appointment time of those clients who do this often. That extra time for the design will help take some of the pressure off. Next you can lay out pricing for creating the design on an accent nail or a full set.
My design didn’t look exactly like Winnie’s, but the client was happy.
To take this situation to the next level, I had a client bring in a photo of a design by Winnie Huang (Yes, THE Winnie of #NTNA greatness!) along with a link to a tutorial video. I watched the tutorial video while her gel-polish was wrapped up for removal and got out of it what I could in the moment. They didn’t turn out exactly like the ones Winnie did, however the client was happy with them and I learned a new technique in the process!

The trick to these situations is to relax. Do your best and enjoy the challenge. You always have the option to offer to use the design as inspiration and create a unique new look based on the photo they bring in. This is just as intimidating for me to do as it is for you! You don’t know how far you can push yourself though, if you don’t try.
