Nail Art Studio: Watercolor Hearts

Permanent markers and alcohol create a watercolor look on these hearts.

1. Apply two coats of OPI Alpine Snow gel-polish, curing after each layer. Remove the inhibition layer with alcohol.

2. Using pink and purple permanent markers, draw heart shapes on the nail. They do not have to be perfect. Use Wildflowers Nails’ Indigo Brush to lightly dab 99% alcohol on the heart shapes; this will create a watercolor effect. Do this until you are happy with the look.

3. Use a small liner brush and Leaf Gel 001 black gel-polish to roughly outline each heart. This can have a sketched look. Cure for 30 seconds.

4. Using the same liner brush and black gel-polish write out the word “love” in the empty white space of the nail. Cure for 30 seconds. Apply rhinestones in matching colors. Finish the nail with matte top coat.
