"I love nail techs. I have heard stories of techs doing their client's nails one final time in both hospitals and morgues. I've heard multiple stories of techs who had surgery and other techs flew across the country to man the salon so the tech wouldn’t lose her business. Salons burn down and nail techs – complete strangers – will send e-files, products, and lights to make sure that tech doesn’t miss a beat. I see techs supporting each other not just in business, but in matters of health, raising their families, death of family members, and parenting advice. Sure, this is how humans interact, but nail techs are connected in ways beyond the norm. They are stronger than people give them credit for. They are consistently underestimated and I think that actually draws them closer because they rise to the occasion of lifting each other up."

"When I get my nails done, I leave the salon with a boost of confidence and a sense of serenity. I love the industry because it is like nothing else. There is so much creativity, passion, and kindness everywhere you look. That creates an amazing sense of community. Last but not least, I love NAILS Magazine because we are unique in every way. We are all different kinds of people, who have different kinds of taste, and we come together to become a strong team that creates something beautiful."

Judy Lessin, senior managing editor

"I love the passion and the caring our readers show for their clients every day. Nail techs are generous to their core."

Jamie Newman, associate editor, Modern Salon

"I love nails because they allow people to express themselves. Nails are unique in the sense that they’re both part of the body and an accessory to it. If I’m feeling extra joyful and girly, I can choose a bubblegum pink polish. Or, if it’s the dead of winter in Chicago, I’ll probably opt for a gray or navy to match my mood. Beyond colors, finishes like shimmer or glitters work for celebrations, nail art for various events, and changing shapes or lengths allows serious nail buffs to express themselves not so subtley."

"I love nails because they give me the opporunity to make people feel better about themselves as clients or fellow nail professionals. I love NAILS Magazine because it makes me feel like part of a larger family that loves and cares for the industry in the best way they know how!"

Tracy Rubert, managing editor

"I love nails because absolutely anybody can have their hands completely transformed into something beautiful in about 30 minutes. It’s the quickest confidence booster I know, and the best part is that it’s enjoyable and relaxing — and therefore important for your health — to have a nail service."

"This industry is all about push. Nail techs constantly push themselves to be better at their craft and to learn more. After that, they push themselves to do more. I learn from this group of professionals each and every day about doing business and how to push myself  even further in my own career. The naill community might be small, but it's strong, and full of so much heart."
