The March issue of Self Magazine helps readers choose "pretty spring manicures." It lists vivid teal, pale lilac, and opaque putty among its three top choices for striking spring hues.

According to the magazine, "'Seafoam green-blue nails allow you to nod to one of fashion's hot colors for spring without going overboard," says Nonie Creme, creative director of Butter London, a chain of salons headquartered in Seattle. Playful purple looks fab witih a faux tan. Pick a hue that suits your skin tone. Deep shades work for warm types and pastels for cool ones, says Jan Arnold, cofounder of CND. Not sure where you fall?
