For those tired of tough resolutions, Self magazine says short nails are a quick beauty shortcut that lengthens the life of a manicure. Let your clients know short means less maintenance.

Short nails means fewer chips and nicks, says New York Ciity salon owner Donna Perillo. Fewer nicks makes it easier to wear bright colors, which are less likely to clash with skin tone, she continues. Buffing nails with no polish is an even lower-maintenance option.

The mag says to "try this season's eye-catching neon grape, electric fuchsia and tropical green." Bold purple nails (OPI in Pamplona Purple) on the model are an example of short, bright nails.
