Good Housekeeping revisits nail care tips from as far back as 1948, and names today's products for nail care.

From March 1948: "Keep cuticles pushed back. If the become hard, soak them in warm oil for a few mintues." (Use: Boots Original Beauty Formula Cuticle Oil)

From May 1958: Wearing bright polish will remind you not to bite those nails. (Try: OPI Nail Lacquer in Dim Sum Plum)

From August 2005: File nails in one direction; oval nails are sturdier than pointy ones.

From November 2006: For dull or yellow nails, brush them with a child's toothbrush and whitening toothpaste.
