Thanks to the BCL|CND|Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship program, 10 aspiring beauty industry professionals received financial awards of up to $5,000 to cover tuition for nail tech programs. Honoring actress and humanitarian Tippi Hedren, the scholarship program is funded by CND and their partner donors. The administering body for the scholarships, Beauty Changes Lives (BCL), is a non-profit initiative of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools.

The 10 scholarship winners were selected in a formal application process that included submission of a digital video or essay and an inspiration board expressing their hopes and desires for careers in the professional nail care industry. “The passion of these individuals came across vividly in their inspiration boards, essays, and videos, which connected their passion for nail care with their love of family, nature, travel, and art,” says Lynelle Lynch, president of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.

“Whether an individual wants to build a business, work in the fashion industry, or unleash their artistic expression anew every day, the professional nail care industry offers many paths to success,” adds Jan Arnold, CND cofounder and Beauty Changes Lives Foundation board member.

Winners and their respective schools are as follows: Quatisha Allen, Hollywood Institute of Beauty Careers, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Kadee Brown, The Salon Professional Academy, Onalaska, Wis.; Maria Godinez, Brown Aveda Institute, Mentor, Ohio; Lauren Hole, Spa Tech, Westbrook, Maine; Taniesha Locke, International Salon and Spa Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Kristina Rodriguez, Casal Aveda Institute, Austintown, Ohio; Sunday Ross, La’ James International College, Fremont, Neb.; Tracey Stone, Montana Academy of Salons, Great Falls, Mont.; Sarah Waite, Academy of Nail Technology, Phoenix, Ariz.; Shelly Zook, Lancaster School of Cosmetology, Lancaster, Pa.
