You’ve Always Been Mysterious: Who Won and Who’s Packing Up Their Brushes

Posted September 27, 2013

challenge2_christiansq

This week’s winner is Christian. The judges loved the unique shape of the pipe nails and the lovely hand pose. Many of our judges, including Entity’s own Lorena Marquez, commented on how it looks like an actual Entity ad. The details and step-by-steps for your 3-D elements were also loved by the judges.

Here are just a few more of the great comments you earned:

NAILS’ managing editor Sree: “I love the hand pose — it’s slenderizing. The pipe shape looks great at this angle, and I love the creative propping too.”

NAILS’ editor Hannah: “I like the interesting shape of your pipe nails. And I love all the detail work for your 3-D pieces. The handpiece is a little busy for me, but overall I really like the look.”

NAILS’ assistant editor Brittni: “The Carnival theme really lends itself well to the word mysterious. The sculpted mask and other embellishments demonstrated great craftsmanship, but I would have liked to see more of the nails themselves.”

NAILS’ group publisher Cyndy: “I’m whisked away to another century in another country with Christian’s design. I’m a sucker for those masks that both hide and bring out the beauty.”

NAILS’ graphic designer Kim: “Awesome use of glitter to accentuate each of his beautifully sculpted pieces. I love the hand position and you can still see all the important details!”

NAILS’ art director Danielle: “Love it! Well thought-out and it shows. You hit the nail on the head with your concept and design for this challenge. I feel like like I’m at Carnival just looking at your designs.”

The nail tech who is packing up her paintbrushes this week is…Victoria Zegarelli. Victoria, we love your style and designs and are looking forward to seeing much more from you in the future! The judges appreciated your concept and your sculpting work but thought a better choice of hand positioning and propping would have made a world of difference.

You can follow Victoria’s journey in the nail industry on her Tumblr page: http://nailbarlounge.tumblr.com/

You can also find her at the following social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
