The Next Picasso: The Top 2 and the Bottom 2

Week7_top2

Challenge 7 sponsored by China Glaze asked our contestants to hand paint a work of art inspired by Picasso, in honor of his 134th birthday. They were allowed to use lacquer and acrylic paint ONLY. In addition, we wanted to see a video diary documenting their inspiration and process.

This week’s guest judge was Nishita Doshi of China Glaze. Permanent judges include CND’s Jan Arnold, NAILS NTNA season 2 winner Lavette Cephus, NAILS editor Erika Kotite, NAILS senior editor Beth Livesay, and the rest of the team at NAILS Magazine.

In alphabetical order, the top 2 are:

Celina: Celina, you definitely thought like Picasso, from the shaping of the nails to your color choices. The judges absolutely loved the message behind your nails as well.

Sarah: Hands down, the judges loved your bright color palette that fit the spirit of China Glaze. We can always count on you for crisp, clean lines. The “glowing” effect of your nails at the end of your video was also a fun surprise.

The following techs can breathe again. They are in the middle of this week’s pack and are safe. Congratulations to:

Torie: The judges appreciated that you showed each of Picasso’s different periods on your nails. In the future we would like to see a bit more precision in your painting.

Winnie: Your self-portrait was a huge hit with the judges, as was your cleverly made polish cat. The shape of your nails could have more effectively reflected the fun in your design, though. On a side note: happy birthday!

border-Bottom2

Unfortunately, there always had to be a bottom group. The bottom 2, in alphabetical order, are:

Alecia: Alecia did not complete this week’s challenge and therefore will be eliminated.

Lauren: It’s obvious that you are a master at hand painting. The choice to frame your nails was downright genius. However, it’s the seventh week of the competition and the judges are dying to hear more about your technique in your videos.
