Pastel City: Who Won and Who’s Packing Up Their Brushes

Congratulations to Halley Fortenberry! Halley’s set had bite and detail that transcended the pastel palette.

NAILS head judge Beth Livesay said, “I like the hidden viciousness in this set. Great point of inspiration! The spray paint cans on the thumbs was a really cool idea that drove the theme home.”

NAILS art director Yuiko Sugino said, “The detailing on the tiger is amazing, which is difficult to do with pastels. I can tell exactly what’s on each tip even though the colors are so light. I love the spray paint, it adds a lot of movement to the whole set. Great source of inspiration! It’s always nice to learn the artist’s background. Your tutorial was clear and straightforward as well.”

Head judge Jan Arnold said, “The different nail shapes are a cool idea! Amazing detail in the tutorial as well. Idea: give recipes as a footnote. Great scale of flowers and cheeky faces.”

Halley will be receiving a gift package from Orly valued at over $500!

The nail tech who is packing up her paintbrushes this week is… Sammi Newell. Sammi, your humor and twirls made NTNA a magical place. Congrats on all you have accomplished here.

But this won’t be the last you hear from Sammi. She will move on to CND’s Last Chance Design Lab where she’ll have one last chance to stay in the competition. Check back Friday to see who will move on in our Last Chance battle — Sammi or Liza.

Tune in Monday to see the results of the Bio Seaweed Gel challenge and vote for your favorites! Good luck to the Top 7!
