Vintage Couture: Who Won and Who’s Packing Up Their Brushes

Congratulations to Sammi Newell for winning her first challenge! Sammi’s ode to a vintage wedding gown had the judges saying “I do!”

Head judge Jan Arnold said, “Great artistry and attention to detail! Love the little details like the dew drops!”

NAILS art director Yuiko Sugino said, “INCREDIBLE detailing and excellent brush techniques (the lace is amazing), the roses/lattice/decorations look so real I can’t believe they’re made out of gel!”

Head judge Beth Livesay said, “You can see the inspiration so quickly in these nails. The lattice has a gorgeous veil effect. It was risky to do all-white, but with all the detail and point of inspiration, it works out so beautifully. I was wowed the second I opened your email.”

Akzentz guest judge Jessica Briarmoon said, “Incredible! The design was elegant and stunning. It wasn’t until I saw the demo that I saw how you used so many Akzentz products to create the embellishments, making it more about the product and less about non-product items. Well done!”

The nail tech who is packing up her paintbrushes this week is… Liza Waitzman. Liza has proven season after season that she is a talented artist with a fun-filled personality. Her passion for art, nails, and people in the industry are why we love her.
