Season 5’s third Last Chance Design Lab challenge sponsored by CND, Liza Waitzman and Trish Johnson will battle it out one-on-one to see who has a chance of staying in the competition. CND’s Jan Arnold will select her favorite look Friday and you’ll find out who will remain for at least one more week.

All Last Chance challenges are done on a single nail tip. Contestants are also asked to describe their looks. There are no other elements to this battle.

Since Trish packed her paintbrushes after the Heartbreaker challenge, this week’s Last Chance challenge is loosely related.

Love Note: Write a handwritten love note on a single nail tip (handpainting only).

Here are the looks they created:

Liza

I chose to go with a quote from one of the most iconic romanticists in history, William Shakespeare. Because we were asked to write a “hand-painted love note,” I clearly had to keep this short and sweet, for obvious reasons!  But I really loved this quote so I wanted to do more research on where it stems from — only to realize that there is much controversy over whether it’s a true quote from Shakespeare himself or the work of Arrigo Boito, an Italian poet and librettist. It is said to be from his libretto for the 1893 opera Falstaff. Interesting as it is and wherever this quote was actually conceived, I still love its innocence and pure form of the state of attraction that love guides you in.  So, I chose to write my letter on what appears to be an aged parchment background with some classic stationery, signed by “Will” with a heart stamp at the bottom to seal the letter.

Trish

One of the kindest, most loving, and thoughtful actions to receive from a special someone is a handwritten love note! When CND and Nails Magazine asked us to create a handwritten love note on one nail tip, I knew exactly where to be begin…with a Post-It note. When my husband and I were first dating, I would constantly leave him love notes all over! I created this one out of CND’s Sun Bleached Shellac on palette paper, then hand wrote my love message for you all at NTNA, in CND’s Indigo Frock Shellac. I sculpted my extreme nail tip out of acrylic in a doily pattern, and hand painted it with CND’s Shellac in Mercurial, Cream Puff, Black Pool, and Ruby Ritz. I then attached my personalized love note in hopes you will all see where my passion and heart lies!

Congratulations to Liza Waitzman for winning her third Last Chance Design Lab challenge! Liza went up against Trish Johnson to show us love letter nail art. CND’s Jan Arnold chose the winner.

Jan said, “Liza is the winner! She followed challenge guidelines beautifully and wrote a perfect love note!”

This means Liza will move on to compete against the next eliminated contestant. Find out tomorrow who that will be.
