In season 5’s sixth Last Chance Design Lab challenge sponsored by CNDLiza Waitzman and Kostadina Tsihlas will battle it out one-on-one to see who has a chance of staying in the competition. CND’s Jan Arnold will select her favorite look Friday and you’ll find out who will remain for at least one more week.

All Last Chance challenges are done on a single nail tip. Contestants are also asked to describe their looks. There are no other elements to this battle.

Since Kostadina packed her paintbrushes after the Thrill Seeker challenge, this week’s Last Chance challenge is loosely related.

Moment in Time: Freeze a favorite memory of a theme park experience you had by illustrating it on a single nail tip (handpainting, flat art, only).

Here are the looks they created:

Liza

Being from California, we have so many theme parks at our disposal. I’ve frequented many of them as a child but one in particular stands out the most. Formally known as the “Del Mar Fair,” this pop-up park happens once a year for only one month. Every year as a child, we would anticipate going to the fair and eating as much junk food as possible then going on these outrageous rides all the while trying not to get sick! My favorite ride, although it scared the bleep out of me was, the zipper! Oh how that ride scared me and was so exhilarating at the same time. As an adult, I tend to stay away from crowds but the memory of the Del Mar Fair will always have a special place in my heart.

Kostadina

My favorite memory of a theme park was from last year at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. When I lived in America I used to visit the park a lot with my family but then I moved to Greece and haven’t been there for many years. My brother moved back to the USA eight years ago and works for the NYPD now. Last year, I visited my brother and he surprised me by taking me to the park. The moment that I remember the most is the first ride that we did, the “El Toro” ride. That is the moment that I illustrated in my nail.

Congratulations to Liza Waitzman for winning her sixth consecutive Last Chance Design Lab challenge! Liza went up against Kostadina Tsihlas to show us a theme park moment frozen in time handprinted on a single nail tip. CND’s Jan Arnold chose the winner.

Jan says, “Liza is the winner, again this week! The design features beautiful clean colors and graphic dimension that pops perfectly when framed in black and white. The nails have an animated feel with a fun sense of humor!  Loved it! PS, I LIVE for the Del Mar Fair!

This means Liza will move on to compete against the next eliminated contestant. Find out Friday who that will be.
