Melisa

Profile

Full Name: Melisa Salazar
Hometown: Boca Raton, Fla.
Salon: Artisan Nail Studio
Preferred Nail Art Medium: Mixed Media
Favorite Nail Trend: 3D Nail Art

I love creating nail art. Life is a journey, color it with as many nail polishes as you can. People come to me when they’re inspired by the world around them, or maybe exhausted with their daily routine. Together, we create happiness, big smiles, and excitement with our nails and our ideas. Tiny nail art comes with huge emotions! Every day I make a difference, big or small in a person’s life through their nails

My background includes architectural designs, publicity, advertising, and broadcasting. I’ve worked with huge brands, tiny brands, and everything in between. I love working with different media and odd materials to get my client’s attention and build excitement for their nail designs.

I’m also a business owner, successfully running Artisan Nail Studio for over two years.  I love teaching, working, and sharing my experience and knowledge with other aspiring nail artists.

Week 2: Mia Secret

Safari Mani

My husband nearly passed out when I told him we needed to go on an African Safari for my next nail challenge. I explained to him that I needed to be inspired by all the amazing sights, from the scorching sand dunes to savannas teeming with African wildlife. I can’t wait to experience the many wonders of what an African safari could offer, from trips to Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, and more. I’ve always wanted to be in the middle of the annual wildebeest migration in the Serengeti, or explore the sun-washed cities of Morocco. Since this challenge would be due in a week, I had to settle for the Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach County for my inspiration. I hope you enjoyed my African Safari Mani. I loved creating all the different nail shapes and exotic animals. Hopefully my African Safari trip will be just as exciting and challenging as my Safari Mani has been this past week!

Week 1: Orly

Seeing Clearly

I look at my hands all the time. Wouldn’t it be great if my nails can help me see clearly every time I look at them? With this challenge, I started by creating a crystal ball on my thumb. Some might associate it with an old woman staring into a crystal ball. I see a modern and confident person who studies her past, learns about her present, and wonders about her future and beyond. My crystal ball reveals all. It clearly shows my life blooms like a flower on my index finger. If lilies can bloom in ugly water, I too can blossom in difficult moments. Looking further, my crystal ball shows the infinity symbol on my middle finger. The symbols represent the infinite possibilities of eternal love in my life. Our nails, just like our lives are always pointed in one direction. Are we prepared to take a different direction in life when the moment comes? My ring finger reminds me to be ready for anything. Last but not least is my outlook on life. Life can be dull, plain and short. I choose to paint the rest of my days with the best colors from Orly!
