Another Dimension: The Top 3

Challenge 10, sponsored by Wildflowers, asked the Top 3 to create dimensional-looking nail art on a flat mural across 10 tips. This week’s guest judge was Lauren Wireman of Wildflowers Nails.

Since there are only three competitors left, we aren’t announcing the top and bottom results until tomorrow. But you can read below for the judges’ comments on all three finalists.

Ashton: The wood illusion was a hit with the judges and went along well with the shape of the tips. Week after week, the judges praise your balance and use of color. This piece, however, felt off in terms of perspective (the windows don’t follow the plane of the walls). Your artwork seemed to play it safe this week. When it comes to your videos, all were very clear and crisp. We loved watching you live, you are a natural on-camera!

Carly: The judges have a word that they love using to describe you: “Unique.” This week you took major risks, attempting a portrait with a limited color palette. Everyone agrees that the proportions of Jan’s face are spot-on, but using more colors would have raised the technique and added dimension. Your Facebook Live was flawless. As a teacher, you are very clear with your audience, which the judges appreciate greatly.

Nixxi: The video explanation for your piece was outstanding! We love that you always bring new and exciting ideas to NTNA. Your artwork this week was a bit off though. Consider adding shadow to create depth in the piece and clean up your line work. The judges are curious to hear more storytelling, for example, why do the objects in the piece represent you? Your Facebook Live was funny and informative.
