Feeling Festive: The Top 3 and the Bottom 3

Challenge 6, sponsored by NSI, asked the Top 7 to create a carnival across 10 nails. This week’s guest judge was Denise Wright of NSI.

In alphabetical order, the Top 3 are:

Ashton: Paint wasn’t allowed in this challenge, and that didn’t stop you from creating beautiful, detailed work. Your video and nails were both incredibly festive. With your level of skill, the judges would like to see you make more of your own embellishments though.

Carly: Your icy, crystal carnival stunned the judges. Your use of acrylic made for life-like effects and designs. The texture and sculpting were so well-done, it gave the judges chills.

Emily: You put a tremendous amount of work into this week’s challenge and the judges congratulate you! Your video is clean and follows the rules, but the judges would have liked to have seen a sampling of your other designs on film. Also, fill in some of the quieter moments of your video with more tips.

The following artist can breathe again. She is in the middle of this week’s pack and is safe. Congratulations to:

Nixxi: Your final design was clean and fun, but at this stage of the competition (and after having two wins), the judges expect more from you. Concentrate more on your teaching and technique in your video, and less on what went wrong. Please watch the state of your nails in your video and in your final photo.

Unfortunately, there always has to be a bottom group. The bottom 3, in alphabetical order, are:

Ashley: Again, the judges applaud your professionalism and persistence this week! Our advice is that you watch the balance in your final design and choose more upbeat colors to fit this particular theme. Video was clear and fun to watch.

Bojana: The judges loved the history in your piece. Watch the structure of the nail, as the judges felt it was flat and wide. Clean up the detail work in your sculpting. We are aware you had to re-do your video, but make sure there’s more information in the video diary.

Kelsey: Bravo for creating so many moving parts! Work on smoothing out more of your designs so they convey the loveliness of the stories that go along with them.
