Love Story: The Top 3 and the Bottom 3

Challenge 4, sponsored by Tammy Taylor Nails, asked our Top 9 to show us their favorite love story across 10 nail tips. This week’s guest judge was Tammy Taylor herself!

In alphabetical order, the Top 3 are:

Bojana: Everyone loves Disney, and this week the judges and the voting public showed their love en masse for your design, which epitomized Valentine’s Day. The shading, film strip, roses, and tips in your tutorial made everyone swoon.

Carly: The judges ate up every minute of your video and fell head over heels for your grandparents AND your nails. Thank you for being so personal with this challenge! The symmetry in your design along with your sculpting and moveable heart all earned top marks. Consider minimizing the prep steps in your video so that it’s more focused on key moments of the tutorial.

Nixxi: NTNA judges expect to be surprised throughout this competition, and so far you have delivered week after week. Your imagination, skill, and concept are nothing shy of pure magic. Your work excites the judges – keep it up!

The following artists can breathe again. They are in the middle of this week’s pack and are safe. Congratulations to:

Ashton: You took a Christmas story and made it perfectly befitting of Valentine’s Day. The texture in the hair was a judge favorite. You’ve set the bar high, so the judges are craving more reality in your portrait work. Clear and beautiful tutorial!

Emily: The judges agree that this was a fun choice for the theme. They love the shading and gradient work in your design. It’s recommended that you sharpen your portrait skills, but the other details in this design were incredibly on-point (especially Morticia’s hair!).

Kelsey: The car is an impressive creation and brings dimension to your overall design. Good uniform composition this week. When it comes to your video, share key pro tips (for the portrait work, for example). The judges do applaud your choice to attempt portrait work in place of cartoons/caricatures for the added challenge.

Unfortunately, there always has to be a bottom group. The bottom 3, in alphabetical order, are:

Ashley: The judges loved your theme this week! The blending of color and caricature creations were a big hit. For your demo, make sure there’s more teaching/tips, and that the nails are square to the camera for better viewing.

Lorna: We loved learning about you and your husband! The artwork could have benefitted from more balance and editing. In your videos, consider losing the text, as some of the judges feel it’s distracting.

Stella: Your submission this week was beautiful and delicate. You chose a tragic love story, which made this piece more captivating. The judges advise you to clean up some of your finer detail work and try to explain how you did things in your tutorial.
