Triptych Fix: Who Won and Who is Packing Up Their Brushes

Congrats to Nixxi Rose for winning this week’s challenge! The judges felt your triptych gave them the carving fix they needed.

Guest judge Elaine Watson said, “It’s unheard of for me to give a single 10, let alone all 10’s, but this is what I was craving for this challenge. I was captivated by her carving skills and how realistic the art became. The decision to layer gradient acrylic was genius and really defined the carving. The decision to use two monomers to do the black and white was so smart. The colors were perfect! Let’s talk about that frog with the foil in the eyes — so genius! I have said OMG too many times for this design!”

Head judge Jan Arnold said, “This is a very dynamic, exciting, and engaging design! The frog is ridiculous it’s so real! Beautiful story and approach with great precision. Your close-up shots are best with no dust, so swipe to a clean frame to show the results of your work.”

Season 5 champion Valerie Ducharme said, “I love your inspiration and your talent for sculpture is breathtaking! You are an outstanding artist! Your intuition and observations create spectacular effects like the frog. Bravo! Do not forget to teach in your videos and explain the choices you make.”

The nail tech who will be packing her paintbrushes this week is… Ashley Hoffman. Ashley has proved to be a hard-working professional and beloved fan favorite. We congratulate her on making it to the Top 5!
