I have worked within the beauty industry for almost 30 years. Nails have always been my greatest passion, particularly natural nail and nail art. I love the opportunity to be creative and to create nails that are a reflection of someone’s vision or personality.
About 4 years ago, I started assisting fashion manicurists and very quickly started to gain my own work, eventually leading to being signed by a top agency last year – one positive of 2020. So now, alongside my salon, I work as a fashion and celebrity manicurist on fashion shows, editorial shoots and for advertising campaigns. My work has been featured on the catwalks of London, Paris and Milan as well as being in magazines including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
I feel very privileged to do the work I do and I am very grateful for the opportunities that I have been blessed with.
Week #1
A to Z CND
For me, recalling my personal journey was quite confrontational in many ways. If I am truthful, I try my best to forget a lot of it as there was a lot of pain, suffering and loss, but it has shaped the person I am today and created the wonderful life I have now.
My mural is an interpretation of everything I am and the life I have worked hard to create. I refuse to dwell on the negativity, that will only take the joy from the present and the future. The things that make me who I am, and define me, are in this mural.
The hand is a representation of my work and the power of touch.
The charm bracelet is the key here, it is a symbol of something that is strong, that never ends, forever connected and interlinked. My journey has been full of connections, with clients, with my husband and my daughter. Our family is small, but it is strong and linked – just like the bracelet.
The charms that hang from the bracelet are what make me who I am.
Dragonfly: A symbol of change and self-realization. The teaching to love life and have faith in difficulties.
Cats: I adore animals, I am a vegetarian, and I am very passionate about all animals. My boys are my fur babies.
Courage: I am full of it!
Clef: Music is my escape. I love the way it can transport you, how it can evoke memories and how it can reflect chapters in your life. I especially love live music.
Naionan: Gaelic for infant. Ireland, especially Dublin, is my spiritual home and my daughter, my infant, has made my life complete in a way I never believed possible. She is the drive for me to aim for more, to work for more and to show her what can be achieved when you put your mind to it.
Determined: I am nothing if not determined.
And the confetti falling in the background is for the celebration of the gift of life and the joy it can bring.
