Fashion Fanatic: Who Won and Who’s Packing Up Their Brushes
Congrats to Silvia Gago López on your Fashion Fanatic winning submission! The judges felt like your nails were ready for the runway!
Head judge Jan Arnold said, “WOW! The deeper I looked into these nails the more I fell in love with them. Your attention to detail in your free hand artwork is mesmerizing. I could watch you create that joker’s face again and again and again…Thank you for your thorough description of the actions taking place and why you are doing them in your tutorial. It makes it very full circle for the viewer. Your artistry is clean, bold, precise, and dramatic! Your challenge guidelines interpretation was excellent, and you used Vinyulx for all hand painting. YES!!!!.”
Judge and Game Master Winnie Huang said, “WOW WOW WOW! Silvia you’ve done it again! I love that you mixed Vinylux with IPA, it’s a trick I do too when we concept with Vinylux! You are the queen of CLEAN, Mr. Clean will be so jealous after seeing you work. I LOVE how you mix and manipulated the colors, that joker is insane! The only thing I craved more is something different from you! Perhaps some texture? Just to demonstrate more ways to incorporate the usage of Vinylux. Continue to kill it and even some MORE, this is phenomenal.”
Judge and Producer Beth Livesay said, “Such a great choice of inspiration! Like the use of alcohol to dilute for painting. Watching you paint that face was incredible! Thank you for listening to the judges and not using acrylic paint – I love how these came out! You challenged yourself and it paid off! Your artwork this week really epitomizes this challenge. Congrats!”
Season 7 Champion Giselle Cabellero said, “This design is so well executed and it features in a very elevated way the use of Vinylux, amazing job! I love how much dimension and shadowing you were able to create using the same product for all of your art, it just goes to show how resourceful we can be when using one product in unexpected ways. Your sculpted nails were beautifully done and the shape was ideal to feature your design, choosing the right shape is a huge part of the foundation for the art process, having a great canvas to paint on will go a long ways. The amount of detail and your line work is so precise that it makes for a grand final result, my only wish would have been for you to go all in and add more detail or shadowing on the thumb because the smile looked a bit simple in comparison to the rest of the design. On your video I love how you narrate your process, keep giving us all the details and add more pro tips for a more instructional feel.”
Guest Judge Ashton Harlan said, “I appreciate that you used Vinylux to create all of your 3D elements. However, their placement on the nails made them less wearable and more avant garde which unfortunately was not the criteria for this challenge. You shared some great pro tips in your video, but the speed was too fast to follow along. Also, because the sponging technique creates texture on the nail be mindful of your topcoat. A smooth finish will go a long way to make your beautiful nail art pop.”

The nail artists who will be packing their paintbrushes this week are Eileen and Kristen.
But this won’t be the last you hear from them, as they will be going up against the winner of last week’s Last Chance challenge, Asia. The three will move on to CND’s Last Chance Design Lab where they all have one last chance to stay in the competition. Good luck!
