My colors are red and beige. I love these colors together. Originally I had pink with a southwest theme, but when the times called for a change I opted for a more upscale color palette. The walls were painted beige and I did a sponge effect over them. (Actually I used plastic grocery store bags; they worked great and there was no clean up.) The red is warm and rich. Because my salon is high-end I needed to convey this feeling throughout the salon. Around the pedicure station I have added a poppy print fabric drape to separate the pedicure units and tie in the colors. I also have a poppy print picture on the wall and poppy appliqués on one wall.

The color palette of my salon is Tuscany orange with rosewood floors. I chose to use black and mustard with natural woods to accent it. The owner of the building actually chose the wall color. I get a lot of compliments about it.

I have a cozy home-based salon that I share with my daughter Brittany (who does hair). When we built it, I wanted a cottage feel to the space, but it also had to be fun — after all, it is the Flip Flop Beauty Shop! It gets pretty gray here in the winter, so I had the lower half of the walls done in white wainscoting, with the upper portion of the walls done in a color called “Cozumel,” a bright turquoise. The adjacent bathroom has the same lower walls, but with a porpoise gray color on the upper walls. The floors are a checkered black, white, and gray pattern. The bright beachy colors help with those dull, dark, gray days of winter.

The color palette of my salon is earthy — browns, golds, and tans. I choose the scheme because it is neutral, not hard to blend other colors with, and it never goes out of style. I also like the warmth it adds to the salon. It is calming as well.
