I am doing gel nails and they keep lifting from the nail tips. Could you please tell me why I keep getting this problem and how to prevent it from happening again?
There could be a few reasons for this issue. Not all gel products can cure through a French or natural tip. You may want to check with the manufacturer to make sure this is not the reason for the lifting. Are you etching the tip with a file? Some products will not adhere to a tip if you don’t rough up the surface first. Lastly, make sure you are bringing the gel over the free edge of the tips since gel shrinks upon curing and that can cause the product to pull away from the tip or the natural nail. — Leeanne Colley is owner of Tips Nail Bar and Academy in Toronto.
