I am a booth renter in the salon where I work. The owner said she does not have to give me a key. Can she do that as I own my own business?
Your owner is correct that she does not have to give you a key. However, the space sub-lease contract that you should have signed should specify the hours and days you have contracted for. That is what your rent is based on, among other items. That means the owner/landlord must make arrangements to have the door open and closed according to your legal agreement. If an owner wants to give you a key it’s OK, but it’s up to her. – Ken Cassidy is president of Kassidy’s Salon Management Consultants (www.kassidys.com).
