On June 9, Debbie Doerrlamm lost her battle with lung cancer. A great friend, generous soul, and frequent contributor to NAILS, Debbie founded BeautyTech, the industry’s first communal website and online forum.
Last September, nail tech Jackie Eades’ salon, the Fufu Beauty Shoppe in Mount Nebo, W. Va., was leveled by fire and the business was a total loss.
Nearly 300 members of the nail industry joined NAILS Magazine and BeautyTech.com at the Rosen Centre for a live social networking event during Premiere Orlando.
The International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE) Long Beach, held January 26-28, is billed as the West Coast’s largest and most influential total beauty event. Produced by the Professional Beauty Association (PBA), the ISSE concept has evolved beyond the traditional “hair” show to really incorporate a diverse exhibitor base covering hair, nails, cosmetics, esthetics, wellness, massage, and advanced education. More than 400 beauty brands were on display for nearly 40,000 beauty professionals in attendance. ISSE Long Beach 2014 will be held January 25-27.
