NYFW: Linear Nail Art from Essie at Brooks Brothers & Ji Oh

by Beth Livesay | September 15, 2015 | Bookmark +

Linear nail art is still a thing, especially at NYFW. Essie showed nail art looks at both Brooks Brothers by Zac Posen and Ji Oh that featured a fine line.

Glamsquad for Essie was inspired by the plaids in the Brooks Brothers garments, keeping shades resort-ready for a spring palette. For the red design, apply two coats of Essie Fifth Avenue. Use a striping brush to create two thin, vertical lines with Pret-a-Surfer on the left side of the nail. Finish the plaid design with two horizontal lines in Pret-a-Surfer near the nail’s edge. Apply top coat.

Designer Ji Oh’s collection was inspired by street style. Lead manicurist Rita Remark created a sheer peach-pink base that was like “lip gloss on the nails,” then played up the sharp lines with vertical stripes of After School Boy Blazer. The base is a combination of Essie Resort Fling and Sugar Daddy. Perfect the stripes of After School Boy Blazer by sporadically placing the lines and applying a second stripe on one nail per hand.
