NAILS and Modern Salon were invited to OPI's My Perfect Me shoot in Calabasas, Calif. last week. The shoot was the brainchild of stylist Oliver Shortall, a Sebastian Artistic Team member and studio signature artist. Shortall and his team, Pop Anomaly, wanted to show that beauty is not only something seen, but felt. "Feeling beautiful on the inside will show on the outside," says the team's concept brief. Shortall described the shoot as "Feeling perfect in your own way."

Inspiration for the finished looks came from pop art and 1970s patterns and textures. The model casting was also colorful. Shortall sought out models who have their own stories and have unique and individual looks. The shoot feautred five models in total, who would be illustrated with graphics and effects after the shoot. The hair color for each model would be bold, with colors like denim, yellow, emerald, and red.

When it came to nails, Shortall envisioned bold, graphic, geometric prints in a monochromatic palette. OPI North America education manager Sigourney Nunez selected OPI Gel Color in Alpine Snow, Black Onyx, I Cannoli Wear OPI, and I Can Never Hut Up to hand paint this design.

Stay tuned as we share the final looks. In the meantime, check out our IGTV (@nailsmagazine), where we have posted a video explaining the nail look for the shoot.
