Educator Shawn Wilson is dedicated to taking nail techs to the next level by training, mentoring, and coaching them to successful careers in the industry. On September 13 and 27, she’ll be combining her unique teaching style and her real-world experience as a business owner in a Cosmetologists Chicago (CC) class called “INTA N.A.I.L. — New and Interesting Learning” by Next Level Education and the International Nail Technicians Association (INTA). Wilson will teach two segments, “choosing the right environment for success” and “setting goals for your career and future.” You’ll learn interview skills, what makes a salon a good fit, and how to prepare for an interview, set goals, market inexpensively, and achieve staying power.

The classes will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 401 N. Michigan Avenue, 24th floor (Cosmetologists Chicago Offices) in Chicago. The cost is $40 for INTA members and $55 for non-members. Register online here or by calling (312) 321-6809.

In related news, Cosmetologists Chicago announced its 2010 Presidents Scholarship opportunity. In 2010, Cosmetologists Chicago will again award more than $25,000 to help qualifying members pursue a higher level of learning and career advancement. All CC, INTA, American Association for Esthetics (AAE), and Cosmetólogos Latinos (CL) members are eligible to apply. Scholarship funds must be used toward industry-related education programs or tuition.

The scholarships (up to $2,500 a year with a $7,500 lifetime maximum) are awarded on the basis of need and academic record. Applications for 2010 are due by December 1, 2010. Applications are available online here by calling (312) 321-6809.
