How was your weekend!?! If you made it to the Long Island Networking Event I hope you had as much fun as I did! It was great to meet so many nail professionals “in real life” that I have only known online for years.
The atmosphere of comradery was also appreciated and enjoyed. There were private one-on-one classes and group classes available on Sunday followed by an evening meet and greet, then a small demo-style tradeshow Monday.

For this event, I ran the Empower Nail Art table and had so much fun working with the films to create easy designs that would allow attendees to go back to the salon with ideas for increasing income through nail fashion. I got a few really neat things at the event that I can’t wait to share with you, however, I would like to play with some of them in the salon this week first so I can also include tips and tricks!
For those that did not make it to the event, here are some demo nails I did with links to tutorial videos so that you can do them too! If you recreate them, make sure to tag them #LInailevent so I can see!
My nails are polished with CND Vinylux in Peacock Plume, then I used the films Silver, Blue Metal, and Copper to create a fun look. This video tutorial lets you know how to create quick, easy stripes with the film. #CNDVinylux
This nail was already enhanced with liquid and powder so I embellished it by applying the film Purple Hearts as a French look. A strip of the film lines cut with the striping tape technique as a wide section was then added for effect. This video tutorial shows you how to cut the film for the perfect smile line! #ENAfilmschool
This nail was polished with CND Shellac, then the Empower applied like striping tape, followed by stamping with additives! Would you like a tutorial for this technique? Let me know in the comment below!

Have you ever heard of the stages of grief? With everything going on, we are grieving our “normal”. That means you should give yourself permission to feel the way you feel.
Has all this PPE business got you down? Does it feel like it cramps your style? One way to help it cheer you up which will in turn cheer up your clients is to add some sparkle.
For those of you that like a little data with your info, here is some really interesting information from salon owner Michele Baker in Georgia. Being one of the first states to open left the salon owners to scramble to learn a lot of things on their own and many have been generous in sharing things they have figured out to help make operating in the COVID-19 world more systematic and understandable.
It has been quite a while since I made a video for the e-file chronicles so an update to that seemed in order. The latest installment is removing gel-polish from an enhancement.
