How did the marketing thoughts go over the weekend? I think I have my polish promotion put together and plan to implement it this week through February instead of a Valentine’s Day special. Nothing wrong with doing Valentine’s promos, I’m just thinking of putting a twist on things this year and going outside the traditional holidays.

Most of us (and most of our clients) have polishes at home on a shelf, in drawers, on counters, in places we forgot about and more. How often do we really wear all of them? As creatures of habit there’s a favorite, maybe a top five and if you’re a real polish geek a top 10. The rest of them are wasting away sad and unused except for maybe that one time. Wouldn’t it be great if we could repurpose them and clean out some of the clutter? My February promotion is Polished Compassion. For every bottle of polish a guest brings in each service they can receive a $1 toward a service upgrade up to $5. The polishes must be professional, useable, and at least ¾ full. I will then donate them to local assisted living centers. What do you have mapped out for February and March?

Since I am in the salon bi-weekly, promotions for me this year will be bi-monthly. This means my next target is April. That seems like a good time to do something involving online media so I can increase my salon Facebook following before summer to help get pictures out and about of Rockstar/Glitter toes. Let’s put some thought into April and May this week and chat about it next week!

Reopening? Know Your Numbers

For those of you that like a little data with your info, here is some really interesting information from salon owner Michele Baker in Georgia. Being one of the first states to open left the salon owners to scramble to learn a lot of things on their own and many have been generous in sharing things they have figured out to help make operating in the COVID-19 world more systematic and understandable.
