Award season usually means we at NAILS gear up to watch the red carpet for the latest in celebrity nail trends. Seldom do we think about what comes before the actual awards ceremony. While most actors get awakened in the early morning hours to learn of a nomination, Irish actress Saoirse Ronan was in the middle of a manicure.

According to E News, Ronan spent the afternoon as a typical 21-year-old would do, by getting a manicure. Coincidentally she was getting gold polish on her nails when her phone began ringing. Not wanting to disturb her nails, Ronan let her phone ring until it became too persistent. When she finally answered the call (it was from her agent) she explained that she couldn’t talk because she was in the salon. It was then that she learned of her nomination for best actress in a motion picture drama for her work in the film Brooklyn.

When she told manicurist Chloe Gilbert the news, the ladies at Tropical Popical in Dublin helped the actress celebrate by popping some bubbly. The salon took to social media to further extend their congratulations.

Furthermore, Ronan admitted to the Wall Street Journal that she will have to keep the gold color on her nails going for luck (and possibly even visit the salon again on Oscar nomination day?). As for us at NAILS, we can’t wait to see Ronan’s red carpet nails throughout awards season.
