For a light and summer-inspired design, offer your clients nail shells this week. Follow these steps from Tulare, Calif.-based nail tech Tammie Alvarado to see how you can encase textured nail shells for a pop of color.

1. Paint the entire nail in a light nude gel-polish and cure. Do not remove the inhibition layer.

2. Using a gel brush and flakes of shell embellishments, pat the flakes on to the entire nail. Cover the flakes with top coat and cure.

3. Make a 3-D gem on the center of the nail with pink gel. Coat the entire nail with top coat and cure. Paint a border to the oval with gold gel-polish. Outline the entire nail with yellow gel-polish. Apply top coat, cure, and remove the tacky layer.

4. Use nail glue to add any additional embellishments to the nail for a little extra bling.
